TEACHERS' HOUSING ESTATE

Developed by the Singapore Teachers’ Union (STU) in 1967, Teachers’ Housing Estate was designed to provide affordable homes for teachers. The estate features 256 terrace houses completed by 1968, with amenities such as Teachers’ Park and the Teachers’ Centre, which included a swimming pool, library, and auditorium. The estate’s roads are named after famous poets and writers, adding a literary touch to the neighbourhood. Despite its quiet and unchanged nature over the decades, the estate has seen upgrades, including a $1.2 million Estate Upgrading Program in 2004.
